Privacy policy
Draft — pending review. This is a working summary of what Bantlo actually does with your data, published so nothing is hidden while the final policy is written and reviewed. It is accurate, but it is not yet the finished legal document. Questions in the meantime: support@bantlo.com.
Voice notes and transcripts
- Voice notes you send are transcribed by a third-party speech provider.
- The resulting text is processed by a third-party language model, whose only job is to work out what the expense was — who paid, and how it splits.
- We store the transcript and the structured parse of every expense alongside the expense itself, and we use them to improve accuracy over time.
What we store about you
- Your phone number. This is the identity key — it is how your ledger is yours.
- Your display name, the names of your groups, and the ledger itself: every expense, refund, payback, and settlement you or the people you split with have logged.
People who haven't joined
- When someone names a friend in an expense, we store that name and their balance even though that person has never contacted us. That is how the math works before anyone signs up.
- We never message that person on our own. A link to join is only ever created when the person who added them asks for one, and it is theirs to forward.
- If they do join, their entries consolidate into one identity keyed to their phone number, and they can see what was logged in their name.
WhatsApp and Meta
- WhatsApp is the transport. The messages themselves also pass through Meta's systems, and Meta's own terms and privacy policy apply to them.
Deletion and contact
- Write to support@bantlo.com for deletion requests, or any question about the data we hold.

- bantlo.com itself sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and collects nothing. Everything above is about the WhatsApp service.
